About Kate
For as long as Kate can remember she’s travelled…. She has really fond memories of family holidays spent walking and travelling around Italy, France and the UK, instilling in her a love of travel. It seemed only natural that she would eventually end up working in the industry. Her early career path however, was far removed – Kate spent 10 years in international banking! After starting a family she realised it was now or never and made the break to start in her first position as travel advisor.
Family travel is a speciality of Kate’s. She enjoys creating family itineraries which “open the mind” with a little bit of adventure and discovery yet with all the hard work removed. She loves the contact with her clients, and thrives on the variety of their individual travel needs.
Scratching beneath the surface adds so much to the travel experience and over the years she has learnt the immense value of having a network of fantastic local guides to help uncover the “real” side of each destination, beyond the gloss of the tourist sites most travellers only see.
Italy is a passion of Kate’s and she has spent many a vacation exploring the various regions – a highlight of her’s though was travelling through the Dolomites on a Hidden Italy guided tour. The stunning scenery, delicious regional food and wine, local accommodation and the wonderful knowledge of owner and tour leader Simon Tancred all combined for an unforgettable experience.
Kate also loves discovering our local region. “We’re so fortunate to have Asia at our doorstep with such amazing cultural diversity. Cambodia and Laos were amazing and I’d love to return one day – especially to Luang Prabang in Laos – a really relaxed city with such a strong Buddhist influence. New Zealand also cannot be over-rated. Such a short flight, with scenery to take your breath away”.
